Charter Request

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 6:12 PM
So my friend and I have decided to make a levelling guild with some of our friends we've met through pugging in the past few days. Nobody wants to join our guild because they have dirty minds and take the name all wrong. (it's named after a skit from Sheep in the Big City), so here goes:

Server: Steamwheedle Cartel US (RP)
Faction: Horde
Area: Orc/Troll Starter area
Toon: Porky
Guild: Touched by a Ninja

I need 4 sigs... if you would like to stay in the guild, go ahead. We have a vent, will have a tabard and bank slots when I get the money. We're a group of helpful people around level 16-20 and I have an 80 main whose raiding schedule is great, so she can help out. :)

Signatures:
Sigforyou
Fyrewynd
Signeratti
Mugisaki

DONE! Going to turn it in.

EDIT: If anyone from NOM sees this, I'm not seeing my cousins over the weekend since I'm with my dad. Sorry if this causes any confusion.

Oh, PuGs, and open letter to you.

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 4:20 PM
Dear PuGs,

This is a mostly guild raid, which is what was advertised in LFG and wherever else our RL was spamming for a few people to fill the last few spots for a Naxx 25 "lets gear up some alts so bring one if you got one" run. This means that it is our guild rules for running and loot.

SO.

Don't be a loot whore. Don't complain about someone winning a robe over you when you've already won 3 pieces (our 2 holy priests were pretty much trading loot back and forth because it dropped off of nearly every boss). I don't care how big of an upgrade that robe was, and how little of an upgrade you feel it was for the person who won it. You won three pieces of loot already.

Don't be an ass because we're having issues with a boss. Gluth can be difficult sometimes, especially since we had 2 new kiters in the back. You want to have a hissy fit and drop after ONE wipe? Go ahead, but you won't be coming back, and you seriously embarassed the person who got you invited. Oops.
You want to say bad things about the raid in /localdefense or /naxxramas general? Yeah, you're going to get kicked. And I thought it especially funny when the rest of the channel lol'd in your face and said that if you were dumb enough to get kicked and then complain even more, YOU were probably the douche and deserved it.
(oh, and your friend that hearthed and logged wihtout saying anything because we kicked you? THAT was classy, too)

No QQing about the loot rules, either, when we spammed them in raid AND on vent. Multiple times. It is not our fault you cannot/choose not to read or listen to what is said. Multiple times.

No Love,

Your friendly neighborhood baby DK who went boomkin for the buffs, then went resto after loosing a healer

We had to kick no less than 5 people last night for asshattery. C'mon people, you are GUESTS in our run, and we are LETTING YOU ROLL AS IF YOU WERE A MEMBER OF OUR GUILD. Show some common decency. There are polite ways to quit raids. Ninja quitting after one wipe is stupid.

Moon Guard Ladies?

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 3:09 PM
Can I get some information about Moon Guard?

I've been looking for a place to re-roll and it seemed like a very good server. May bring my main over as well.

How is the population?

BGs?

Progression any good?

Thank you very much! Many hugs in advanced.

Notes in WoW

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 12:46 PM
Is there such a thing as an addon that allows you to keep little notes for yourself in WoW? I have such a whack of post-its around my moniter about random game info that I think it would be great if I could get them into the game.

I know I could just keep a word file on my desktop or something, but it'd be neat if I could open it ingame without needing to alt+tab.

Help please!

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 10:19 AM
I downloaded Chatter and Grizzly Sharedmedia and I love them very much. It's been great fun playing around with them. I have a problem though and can't seem to find an answer for it so I'm hoping one of you lovely ladies who uses it knows how to fix it. I can't talk! I can see trade/general chat and that's it. I tried to /w my boyfriend and he saw it just fine, but I couldn't see what I'd said or his response. Tried party chat, same thing. Tried guild and officer chat... same thing. Does anyone know how I can fix it so that I can actually see what I've said and what's being said to me? Thanks in advance for your help!

Bad Dreams, WoW and IRL!

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 10:58 AM
Has anything in WoW ever given you the creeps? Is there a place that just creeps you out, so much that you refuse to go there?

There is such a place for me. Spider mountain on Bloodmyst Isle, in the Draenei area. It's set far back into a corner of the area, and is a spiraling trail of spiders along the summit of a mountain- leading to the top where a whole mass of spiders and their mother spider lurk.

I can handle spider mobs in wow, but I can not handle these. They are ginormous black spiders, with red and yellow markings. The worst part for me is that they SCREECH when they aggro onto you. Oh my god. I can't stand it. I'll try to sneak by one to mine and suddenly "ERRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!" Oh my shi-

I had a dream one night where these exact spiders invaded my room. They would curl up, hanging beneath my computer desk and from the ceiling. I was so frightened that I would "aggro" them in my dream that I just stayed perfectly still and hoped they wouldn't come near me! It was so terrifying. ;__;

Yesterday, I was swimming in the pond with my friend and climbed up on the dock to dry off. I have never seen a dock spider before, so when I looked beyond the wide spaces of the dock's boards and saw the friggin tarantulas crawling about, I immediately thought of spider mountain in-game. And I freaked. I have never run so fast. I can't handle it. ;__;

Anyone else have the same issues, with any place or thing in-game? I feel like a dork, but I think that spider place on Bloodmyst is just.. augh.

mages - when to switch to fire?

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 2:14 PM
Fellow mages, how/when did you decide to make the jump to ttw-fire? When you hit ulduar? When you hit a certain gear level? When you naturally through the best gear you had didn't need any more hit?

This is my mage, and I'm trying to figure out when to switch her to fire since she's fooling around in ulduar now. She has the badge offhand and the 38 hit/66 sp PVP ring, which leaves her short only 17 hit for fire (with boomchicken/spriest obv). I've also got the 7.5 chest that I'd switch to if respeccing. I was thinking I could respec once I got an additional piece of hit gear, probably bracers. Or if I upgrade a couple of my hit pieces like the neck. I thought about buying combustion bracers but they're still pretty expensive on this server and I feel meh about spending that much $$$ on something just to respec sooner. I would love to get the bracers from razuvious in naxx 25 but can't count on that. Thoughts?

Things that are lame...

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 3:05 AM

As the subject says, this is my list of things that are lame tonight --

1.  Chase Bank - For answering my query about my interest rates by telling me that I have the lowest rate available to me but suggesting that I contact them every so often to see if lower rates are available / suggesting I watch my account for better offers.  Yeah that  is what I was doing because my other card through you on the same account is 3% lower, but that higher  rate card has the lowest rate available to me? Reeeeeeeeally?  And then they tried to sell me on more services.  Erm, pass.

2. The stupid ass don't tax soda to pay for health care commercial.  Why?  Not because it says don't tax soda.  If you have health care and drink a kazillion tons of soda and don't want it taxed to pay for others, cool for you, I can see why you'd be against it.  I don't have health care and don't drink enough soda to care about it being taxed as I find it kind of gross (I used to drink tons of it but now I just find it too sweet and gross most days so I drink one of Brian's Diet Cokes now and then).  But no, I find it lame because of one of the claims in the commercial.  It explains that taxes won't make people healthy but healthy diets and education will.  Erm.  What?  So all I gotta do is eat well and get educated and I can stop shooting myself up with these meds, popping pills, seeing doctors, and I'll be all healthy, my MRIs will clear up?  Oh wait, I'm not exactly stupid when it comes to health and I eat just fine, in fact my diet has me losing weight regularly (probably ditching most of your sodas helped) and no that hasn't made me healthy.  Just say in the ad "Hi, we're Coke and Pepsi, we'll lose sales if this passes -- so call your congress people to tell them you love us and to ask them to vote against it".  But lecturing us sick people, implying that eating well is the only health care plan we need when you're pimping out a crap product?  Erm screw you.

3.  My headache.  Third shot night.  Been a few hours now which means I'm now feeling a bit tired and a little blech.  zzzzzzzz needed I think.  This weekend is fabric store, HP, mall to pay a bill, groceries since I felt too blech to do that tonight.  Busy weekend.

Druid Healz Questions

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 12:23 AM
I have questions for all the Druid healers (or really, any healers) out there that I've been thinking about for a while.

-When do you refresh Lifebloom on the target? Do you refresh it before the HoT runs out, do you let it fall off and then stack the HoT again, or do you only let it fall off if the target needs healing, and then refresh?

-And, if I always place a Rejuvenation HoT on my target, should I heal with Nourish or Regrowth? Or, should I heal once with Regrowth to place that HoT on the target, and then switch to Nourish?

-Is there still a use for Healing Touch, or does Nourish replace it? I use it sometimes when the target has gotten to low-ish health, but since it doesn't have a HoT, I tend to use Regrowth instead.

-And, I've used Healbot in the past in 70 raids when my Druid was lower level, but I didn't particularly like it. I'd rather use the in-game feature for 10 man raids, where I can click on a target and place a heal on them rather than use mouse buttons and the shift, alt, and control keys. Is Grid any different, or are there any addons out there that are very similar to the in-game feature?

Yeah, noobish questions, so be gentle. If you have any other comments, please feel free to say. :D

Mage/holy paladin looking for a new home.

Sadly, my 10-man guild will no longer be raiding, so I (and possibly my boyfriend) need a new home.

Cut for the nitty gritty )

Fishing etiquette?

  • Jul. 17th, 2009 at 11:51 PM
For lack of anything better to do, I've decided to level fishing.  I've just hit the level where, with a decent amount of buffing, I can actually farm the mats for a fish feast and get them pretty consistently.

But I'm slightly confused on etiquette.

When someone finds a school before you, is it perfectly acceptable to start fishing that node, too, simply because you can do it faster?  I know it was never a good plan for mining, unless you really hated the person you were mining with.  Sharing happened occasionally, but by mutual agreement, and if it happened otherwise, either someone wound up dead or ignored (depending on who perceived themselves as the screwed over party).

Cause that just happened to me... twice.  Same person both times.  And when I pointed out that that seemed like kind of a douchey thing to do, I got completely ignored.  Not ignore list ignored... just "lol, you're hilariously stupid" ignored.  They blatantly didn't give a shit that someone was there first (nor that they had about 3 other options for schools to fish from), and I'm sure they got a good laugh out of it irl.

*sigh*

When obsessions collide

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 12:17 AM
Hello and bonjour!
I've been a member for a while and have commented a bit here and there... and I have to admit that I have two real obsessions: Warcraft and making dinky little things out of clay.
Who knew that these two interests would come together as often as it does?

...so I tend to post updates on newly created clay critters on  craftgrrl and have been poked a few times to post hereabouts as well. I have finally gathered up enough courage to go and do it! I'll post! I will! I... have to dig through my pictures on Livejournal and find my Warcraft ones. Thank goodness for the Tagging tool, is all I have to say!

The Goonies Guild on the Vek'nilash Realm

  • Jul. 17th, 2009 at 8:44 PM
Knowing how difficult -- or at least annoying -- it can be for gaming gals to find a decent bunch to play with, I wanted to let you know about our guild. The general age range is between 30s and 50s, with the only youngsters being the brood of Goonie members. We have several female players who feel very comfortable with us. Including, my wife.

Our approach is fairly relaxed, but versatile. Play what you want to play, how you want to play it. The Goonies believe in helping all of their members to succeed. They have, in particular, been wonderful to myself and my wife. And we have only joined the game fairly recently.

If you play Horde on Vek'nilash? Think about dropping by the Goonies Guild.

Drats

  • Jul. 17th, 2009 at 4:47 PM

I think I shall move my crafty adventures to this blog instead of mixing in with my VOX political / news rants. That was a silly place to post it when I have my art blog. Me trying to draw and me trying to be crafty goes together. My wtf is wrong with Republicans rants and purses, those don’t go together… well… sometimes they do, but not usually.

The fabric store that mom shops at in Portland is who I ordered from online. They just called to tell me they’re out of the cute skull fabric I was gonna use for a wallet. HA! Poor Brian we were already going to Joann’s this weekend to buy zippers / snaps since the online selection sucks (think they must only like sending or tracking the bigger / spendier items for online sales) and an iron (hey I don’t need an iron for jeans and t-shirts). Well now I gotta find a replacement material locally for the wallet. Oopsie.

Also the patterns arrived. I noticed a few things.
1. The more I look at them the more I realize that one pattern is the purse I use now. Identical other than this pattern has a pocket in “front” (decorated) where as mine has one on the “back” (front of the purse is decorated so the pocket is plain and on the back) and the strap on the pattern purse is attached differently and not adjustable. But seriously it’s identical is size, shape, etc otherwise.

2. Not so sure patterns are worth paying for. While both purses and the wallet are cute, if I knew anything about sewing and knew about how much fabric and what other materials were needed to make a purse like the one I have now, I suspect I could have made something like it without a pattern and saved $10 per pattern and could then sell them. Can’t sell ones made from these patterns. And calling them patterns is somewhat generous.

The more simple of the two purse patterns is made from two fat squares and does have a “pattern” inside showing you where to cut the material into the strap, etc. The more complex purse pattern is 4 pages of text with tiny pics that go along with the text. Things like pics of the stuff sewn together to show what yours should look like if you followed the text right. Or irons sitting on the fabric to show you what they mean by pressing. *blinks* Genius. The only pattern I really love as a pattern is the wallet. It’s five page of LARGE COLOR pics with easy to read large print bold directions to go with each picture. Granted it didn’t have the spiffy square — your fabrics should be this size — guides but it tells you how big each piece should be and I’ll give that up for these quality directions. Of course it’s also the most complicated one I can easily screw up… It’s probably the only one of the three I feel was unique enough to deserve its copyright / do not sell items you make based on this pattern notice, etc. I didn’t see other patterns like it. It’s actually detailed and worthy of the money I spent based on a glance. Maybe the others are too, once I get into reading them. But at first glance they don’t seem that special or unique, there were other patterns I considered that were similar to them, and don’t even offer much in terms of being a “pattern”.

In fact. Mom you were sewing and making patterns when I was a kid. Make friggin patterns that have good pics and stuff. These people don’t know what the word pattern means and they make $8-12 each for them.

RIP Walter Cronkite. He was 92.   Most well known for telling the world that JFK had died.  It seems like most of the old school news guys are gone or going.
